#15 How To Start A New Habit? For Deen & Dunya e.g Learning Arabic or Jiu-Jitsu

 A deeper look into the mindset required to effectively start a new productive habit.

1) Examine and eradicate any limiting beliefs you may hold.

– “It’s too late to start” – “too busy/not enough time”

– “I’ve tried and never been able to before”

Counter above with thoughts that act as antidotes THINK THE THOUGHTS THAT HELP GOAL

 

2) ACCEPT THAT DISCOMFORT IS INEVITABLE

– You have to accept this as part of the process

– Stoic philosophy tactic of pre-meditation of evils

– understand that discomfort is greatest at the beginning.

– you can “habitualise” discomfort and change identity over time.

 

3) BREAK GOAL DOWN INTO SMALL STEPS

– ‘floss one tooth’ concept

 

4) ONCE DECIDED, LESS THOUGHT MORE DO

– you have already committed, now execute

– think how you will feel after

– can use “pre-commitment” accountability via a friend
